DAGMAR KESTNER explores the realm of handcrafted luxury goods from a very personal point of view.
The essence of the brand is to cultivate and revive traditional handcrafting techniques, through rethinking both, their aesthetics and the production & supply process of the collections offered.
By challenging the traditional techniques of ’Macramé’ and ‘Cavandoli’ in unexpected ways, she has created a variety of pieces, from detailed bracelets to bold and sculptural leather adornments and showpieces.
With the endorsement and support of the recent achievements, the designer is currently working on creating an external production framework for her brand. The goal is to improve and reproduce selected pieces of the previous projects, but especially to facilitate the production of her upcoming collections and new designs, on a bigger scale.
BIO
Dagmar Kestner is a Fashion & Accessory Designer creating handcrafted luxury leather goods and showpieces, mainly made from leather. Dagmar was born in Romania, grew up in Germany and lives and works at the moment in Copenhagen. She completed her MA in 2013 from the London College of Fashion with distinction in Fashion Artefact. After her BA study in south Germany (University of Reutlingen) and a 6-month placement at the Danish Fashion Designer Henrik Vibskov, Dagmar assisted the award-winning Danish label Vilsbøl de Arce for two seasons. She recently won the Deutsche Bank Award 2013 (Fashion category) and has started now her eponymous label.
